NYU's La Maison Française Unveils April Calendar of Events

Listen to a panel discussion (April 4) on the medieval poet François Villon, who found his muse in the streets, taverns, and bordellos of Paris. Or take in an exhibition, April 12 to May 31, entitled “Pears, Pastimes, and People: Caricatures by Daumier and His Contemporaries.” These and other April events will be offered at La Maison Française and are free of charge except when otherwise noted.

Catalan Center of NYU Hosts Special Events in March

The Catalan Center at NYU will host a number of special events in March, including a weekly Catalan film series; an artist talk with Ester Partegàs on March 4; and an academic symposium, “Beyond Don Juan: Rethinking Iberian Masculinities,” on March 30-April 1. All events are free and open to the public, and take place at the King Juan Carlos Center auditorium, 53 Washington Square South.

Latin American Film Festival at NYU, Feb. 24 through March 2

The Latin American Film Festival at New York University will present 12 recent feature films and documentaries from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Uruguay. The festival takes place at NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South, unless otherwise indicated. The films are free and open to the public. Film directors will be present at select screenings.

New York University’s King Juan Carlos I Center of Spain presents “La Colonia: Spanish Immigrants in New York, 1898-1945,” a new exhibition of photographs and archival materials that documents the experience of immigrants from Spain in early twentieth-century New York City. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is on view Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 53 Washington Square South (between Sullivan and Thompson Streets).
