The New York University Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) has awarded New York University College of Dentistry a one-year pilot grant to translate an English-language caregiver support program into Korean and to culturally adapt the program for families of Korean-American cancer survivors ages 55 and over. CTSI, a partnership between NYU’s Langone Medical Center and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, is funded by a grant from the National Center for Research Resources at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The New York University College of Nursing’s Mobile Health Van Program (NYUCN-MHVP) for the second year has sponsored a pair of Brooklyn high school students for the Brooklyn Health Disparities Center’s (BHDC) “Health Disparities Summer Internship Program.” This year, 21 students with 14 summer projects presented their research findings at an awards ceremony at Brooklyn Borough Hall, August 3, 2012. The NYUCN-MHVP sponsored Stephanie Collins and Alyssea Sealey for their project, “Language Barriers in Adolescent Health in Brooklyn.”

New York University’s College of Nursing (NYUCN) partnered with NYU’s College of Dentistry (NYUCD) to host a health fair at the Grand Street Settlement, a naturally occurring retirement community (NORC), in Lower Manhattan. This “Health Fair for Healthy Aging” kicked off NYUCN’s Elder Care Program (ECP), a $1.2M grant awarded to NYUCN by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grant allows NYUCN to provide primary care services and other health related services to over 4,000 seniors in Lower Manhattan over the next three years.
