Student Government Committees are where the majority of our work gets completed. Our committees tackle agenda items ranging from solving university transportation issues to planning NYU's official spirit week, Violet 100.

Academic Affairs Committee

The committee considers all matters concerning academically-related support services and programs provided by the university to students. After a careful review of such problems and issues, the committee makes recommendations concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

Membership
Membership is open to all interested students.

Committee Work
Designed as a trouble-shooting committee, it handles (but is not limited to) topics such as Bobst Library, student/faculty relations, registration, classroom facilities, computer services, and the academic calendar.

All-University Events Committee

The committee is tasked with overseeing all events that are university-wide.

Membership
Membership is open to all interested students.

Committee Work
The committee's main responsibility is the planning of NYU's official spirit week, Violet 100. The committee may also take under its purview any university-wide student event that it sees appropriate.

Committee Meetings
The committee meets weekly in Kimmel on Fridays from 3:30 - 4:30pm.

Alumni Relations Committee

The committee may consider issues concerning the relationship between current students and alumni.

Membership
Membership is open to all interested students.

Committee Work
The committee is dedicated to improving the relationship between NYU alumni and students by fostering increased interaction, assisting in the planning of key events (Dinner with 6, Alumni Day, Violet 100, etc.), and establishing a strong connection with NYU's Alumni Association and their various committees.

Committee Meetings
The committee meets bi-weekly at alternating times.

Conference Funding Committee

The committee shall consider any application for academic, leadership, and/or other other conferences for the professional advancement of NYU students.

Membership
Membership is open to all interested students.

Committee Work
The committee shall consider students' applications for attending academic, leadership, and/or professional conferences. The committee reviews applications for conference funding that are submitted on a rolling basis during the academic year and decides how much to award each recipient. At the end of the year, the committee hosts a colloquium for all award recipients, members of student government, and university administration.

The committee meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays in Kimmel 708 from 3:30 - 4:30pm

Graduate Affairs Committee

The committee considers all matters relating to the academic and extracurricular life of students enrolled in the graduate and professional schools of the university. The committee also serves as an advocate to Student Government for such students on issues which affect them as a distinct and identifiable entity within the university community, without regard to school affiliation.

The committee acts as a liaison among the various graduate and professional school student councils at the University for the purpose of exchanging and disseminating information on matters of concern to graduate and professional students.

Membership
Membership consists primarily of all graduate school presidents and is open to all interested graduate students.

Committee Work
The committee considers issues pertaining to graduate and professional student life, services, and programming, such as housing, insurance coverage, social activities, etc. When appropriate, the committee works in conjunction with other Student Government committees on matters of mutual responsibility. After a careful review of matters within its purview, the committee makes recommendations to Student Government concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

International Student Affairs

The committee serves as a forum for international student, leaders, and others to discuss relevant issues, policies, and initiatives, and exchange and disseminate information on matters of concern to the international student community at the university. It also considers all matters relating to the academic and extracurricular life of international students at the university.

Membership is open to all interested students.

Organization and Governance

The committee shall review the organizational policies of university student government and make recommendations regarding student governance.

Membership
Membership shall be limited to five students, three members of the SSC and two members of the UCSL who are not also members of the SSC.

Committee Work
The committee reviews proposals to amend the bylaws of the SSC, UCSL, or any of its sub-committees. The committee is also charged with interpreting the bylaws of the SSC and UCSL.

Public Relations Committee

The committee is in charge of promoting the works of the University Senate and Student Government to the student body, and creating and distributing all official publications between Senate and the community.

Membership
Membership is open to all interested students.

Committee Work
Responsibilities include maintaining the Student Government Blog and social media, building relations and connections with NYU Media outlets (WSN, NYU Radio, and NYU TV), creating a strong presence during Welcome Week, and ensuring that students are aware of Student Government initiatives.

Site Ambassador Program Committee

The committee works to organize, oversee, and aid the Site Ambassadors and Representatives across NYU's global network. Site Ambassador tasks will change and will be determined at the start of every semester.

Membership is open to all interested students. 

Committee Work
The Site Ambassador committee works as a liaison between the Site Ambassadors studying away and New York, as well as to provide support and work with the ambassadors to improve the studying away experience for students at NYU.

Student Activities Board (SAB)

The committee oversees the life of student organizations registered with the University’s Student Activities Office; establishes the criteria under which such student organizations are formed and operate; arbitrates disputes involving registered student organizations.

Membership
Membership is limited to eleven students who are bona fide members of student organizations registered with the Student Activities Office, members of student councils, or members of the UCSL.

Committee Work
The committee makes recommendations concerning the policies, facilities, and services administered by the Center for Student Activities, Leadership, and Service. After a review of matters within its purview, the committee makes recommendations designed to foster the development of student organizations at the university.

Undergraduate Affairs Committee

The committee considers all matters that relate to the academic and extracurricular life of students, enrolled in the undergraduate divisions of the university, that affect them as a distinct and identifiable entity within the university, without regard to school affiliation. The committee acts as a liaison among the various undergraduate school student councils for the purpose of exchanging and disseminating information of concern to the undergraduate population.

Membership
Membership consists of all the presidents of the undergraduate student councils (or a designated representative of each president) and any interested undergraduate Student Senators.

Committee Work
At the direction of Student Government, the committee coordinates All-University undergraduate programming endorsed by the several undergraduate school student councils. When appropriate, the committee works in conjunction with other Student Government committees on matters of mutual concern and responsibility. After a review of matters within its purview, the committee makes recommendations to Student Government.

Committee Meetings
The committee meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 9-10pm in Kimmel
