Academic Services Committee

Membership open to UCSL members and other interested students. The Committee considers all matters concerning academically-related support services and programs provided by the University to students. After a careful review of such problems and issues, the Committee makes recommendations to the UCSL concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

Committee Work

Designed as a trouble-shooting committee, it handles (but is not limited to) such topics as Bobst Library, student/faculty relations, registration, classroom facilities, computer services, the academic calendar, etc.

All Square Student Budget Allocation Committee (ASSBAC)

Membership shall be limited to fourteen students (not including the chairperson) in accordance with the SSC/UCSL Rules. The Vice Chairperson of the UCSL shall serve as the chairperson of the
Committee. The Committee membership includes the chairperson and fourteen other students divided equally into two subcommittees according to the criteria specified by the Rules.

Committee Work

The Committee establishes the criteria under which student organizations may receive All-Square funding, allocates such funding to student organizations, and monitors the use of allocated funds.

All-University Events Committee

Membership open to UCSL members and other interested students. The committee shall oversee all events that are university-wide.

Committee Work

The committee's main responsibility is the planning of the NYU's official Spirit Week hosted by the SSC, the Violet 100. The committee may also take under its purview any university-wide student event that it sees appropriate.

Alumni Relations

Membership open to UCSL members and other interested students. The Committee may consider issues concerning the relationship between current students and alumni.

Committee Work

In addition, at the invitation of the Alumni Association, members of the Committee shall regularly attend and participate in meetings of the Alumni Association's Alumni/Student Relations Committee.

Conference Funding Committee

Membership open to UCSL members and other interested students. The committee shall consider any application for academic, leadership and/or other other conferences for the professional advancement of NYU students.

Committee Work

The committee reviews applications for conference funding that are submitted during the academic year and decides how much to award each recipient. At the end of the year, the committee hosts a symposium and invites all award recipients to present on their conference.

Global Affairs Committee

Membership open to all UCSL members and other interested
students. The committee will work closely with student representatives at all study away and portal campuses to ensure consistency in student safety, academic standards, and the day-to-day experience of student life.

Committee Work

The Committee will facilitate communication with individual liasons at each site and compile their feedback into an annual report on the state of Study Abroad at NYU.  It may also create programs and initiatives of various sorts to improve the Study Abroad experience.

Graduate Affairs Committee

Membership consists primarily of graduate school presidents, though other graduate students interested are welcome to join. The Committee considers all matters relating to the academic and extracurricular life of students enrolled in the graduate and professional schools of the University. The Committee also serves as an advocate to the UCSL for such students on issues which affect them as a distinct and identifiable entity within the University community, without regard to school affiliation.

The Committee acts as a liaison among the various graduate and professional school student councils at the University for the purpose of exchanging and disseminating information on matters of concern to graduate and professional students.

Committee Work

The Committee considers issues pertaining to graduate and professional student life, services, and programming, such as housing, insurance coverage, social activities, etc. When appropriate, the Committee works in conjunction with other UCSL committees on matters of mutual responsibility. After a careful review of matters within its purview, the Committee makes recommendations to the UCSL concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

International Student Affairs Committee

Membership is open to UCSL members and other interested students. The committee shall consider all matters relating to the academic and extracurricular life of international students at the University.

Committee Work

The committee will work with the Office of Global Affairs as well as various international student associations to consider issues, policies, and initiatives that concern the international student community.

Committee on Organization and Governance

Membership shall be limited to five students, three members of the SSC and two members of the UCSL who are not also members of the SSC. The committee shall review the organizational policies of University student government and make recommendations regarding student governance.

Committee Work

The committee reviews proposals to amend the bylaws of the SSC, UCSL, or any of its sub-committees. The committee is also charged with interpreting the bylaws of the SSC and UCSL.

Public Relations Committee

Membership open to all UCSL members and other interested students. The Committee is in charge of promoting the works of the University Senate, SSC and UCSL among the Student Body, and creating and distributing materials including all official publications between Senate and the  community.

Committee Work

Responsibilities will include maintaining the Student Senate Blog and Facebook Fan Page, building relations and
connections with NYU Media outlets (WSN, NYU Radio and NYU TV), creating a strong presence during Welcome Week and ensuring that overall, students are more aware of what their student representatives work toward all year.

Student Activities Board

Membership limited to eleven students who are bona fide members of student organizations registered with the Student Activities Office, members of student councils, or members of the UCSL.

Committee Work

The Committee oversees the life of student organizations registered with the University’s Student Activities Office; establishes the criteria under which such student organizations are formed and operate; arbitrates disputes involving registered student organizations. The Committee also makes recommendations concerning the policies, facilities, and services administered by the Center for Student Activities, Leadership, and Service. After a review of matters within its purview, the Committee makes recommendations designed to foster the development of student organizations at the University.

Student Affairs Budget Allocation Committee

Membership limited to five student members of the UCSL. The Committee considers all matters relating to the budget, policies, personnel, and practices of the Division of Student Affairs and
Services.

Undergraduate Affairs

Membership consists of the presidents of the undergraduate student councils (or a designated representative of each president) and any interested undergraduate Student Senators. The Committee considers all matters that relate to the academic and extracurricular life of students, enrolled in the undergraduate divisions of the University, that affect them as a distinct and identifiable entity within the University, without regard to School affiliation. The Committee acts as a liaison among the various undergraduate School student councils for the purpose of exchanging and disseminating information of concern to the undergraduate population.

Committee Work

At the direction of the SSC or UCSL, the Committee coordinates All-University undergraduate programming endorsed by the several undergraduate School student councils. When appropriate, the Committee works in conjunction with other UCSL committees on matters of mutual concern and responsibility. After a review of matters within its purview, the Committee makes recommendations to the UCSL.
