Steve Cordova

Steve Cordova

Steve is a second year master's candidate at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) where he's studying physical computing and human computer interfaces (HCI). A current InSITE Fellow, Steve has a strong interest in art and technology, and has participated in various hackathons.

Originally from Newark, NJ he hopes one day to run for public office and give back to the city of Newark. Steve earned his B.A. from Boston College in Economics and a concentration in Computer Science and his M.A. from Rutgers University in Economics.


Kevin Jones

Kevin Jones

Kevin Jones, born and raised in Southern California, is a rising senior in the College of Arts & Science studying Psychology and Politics with a minor in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Studies.

Since a young age, Kevin has had a strong passion for government and enjoys serving as an advocate for student organizations. In the future, Kevin intends to attend to law school and aspires to become a federal prosecutor. Outside of the Student Senators Council, Kevin serves as a research assistant in Department of Psychology and is an active member of both his fraternity and the Inter-Greek Council.

Sathya previously served as Vice President of Student Relations for the NYU-SCPS Graduate Student Council and as an Officer on the board of the NYU SCPS Management and Systems Student Association. He is a Master’s candidate in Management and Systems, specializing in strategy and leadership. He is the recipient of 'NYU's International Superstar' title for Feb 2013, presented by NYU OGS.

Colin Waddell

Colin is a junior studying Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of Engineering.  Colin is originally from a small Southern New Jersey town called Williamstown.  In addition to SSC he is also a Welcome Week Captain, a member of the 2015 Class Activities Board, and a Teaching Assistant for the introductory engineering class at the School of Engineering.

Colin hopes to further connect the Brooklyn Engineering campus to Washington Square with his role as the School of Engineering's first SSC representative.

Hello everyone! I am Charvis Buckholts, a native of Atlanta, GA. I am currently a second year graduate student earning a Masters of Art degree in Sociology of Education. Based upon my own experiences, I am aware of the role in which social factors play in a child’s educational matriculation.

As a graduate student in the Masters of Art, in the Sociology of Education Program at New York University I am utilizing my voice to foster awareness of the issue of education in low-income minority communities and working to find a solution. As a Graduate Senator for Steinhardt, my vision encompasses bridging the gap between Steinhardt and others NYU schools, spreading the awareness of diversity, and fostering unity through relatable service.

Jessica is a junior studying Public Health and Nutrition in Steinhardt. She is originally from a small town in south-central Pennsylvania called York.

In addition to representing Steinhardt as Senator, she is a Resident Assistant at Goddard Residential College, a first year residence hall at NYU, and serves as an Admissions Ambassador giving tours to prospective students.


Daniel Kao

Daniel is currently a senior studying management and entrepreneurship at Stern. In addition to his involvement in the Student Senators Council and Stern Student Council, he is also an NYU Admissions Ambassador Supervisor and a Resident Assistant at Broome Street. He enjoys using technology to create better and more efficient solutions and, outside of school, currently works at his own startup.


Yash Shah

Engineering Grad Senator

Yash Shah is a Master's candidate in Industrial Engineering. Although he received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering happened because he wanted to pursue his interests in Process Improvement and Operations Management. He is also the Co-Founder of the Graduate Programming Association at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.

Lisa Wang

Lisa is pursuing a medical degree at NYU School of Medicine. She intends to work with underserved populations and shape medical policy and culture. In what seems like a past life, Lisa studied religion and psychology at Northwestern University. She does not know what kind of doctor she wants to be, other than a good one.

Jean-Claude is a second year MS Biology student focusing on Applied Recombinant DNA Technology. He is also an active member of the Master's College Program Board.


Derek Hedbany

Derek Hedbany is a junior at NYU studying acting at Tisch School of the Arts. He grew up in southern California. He hopes to one day work in the entertainment business, whether it's on or off camera. He currently serves as an RA to Lafayette and on the executive board to the Tisch Undergraduate Student Council.

Before beginning my masters at NYU Silver and becoming senator I graduated from The Evergreen State College in Olympia WA. Post my BA I traveled and worked a number of jobs before entering into social services. This past year I worked in the New York Public School system and am excited to operate as senator during my final year of graduate school.

Danyal holds a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in History from University of Maryland University College. At NYU Wagner, Danyal is pursuing a Masters of Public Administration specializing in International Public & Nonprofit Management and Policy. During his first year at NYU Wagner he was a board member of the Wagner Review Journal and also blogged for the International Public Service Association (IPSA).


Anushua Choudhury

Anushua is a sophomore in Global Liberal Studies, concentrating in Politics, Rights, & Development and pursuing a double minor in Spanish and Social & Public Policy.

Her passion for traveling and community service has led her to study away in Madrid, Spain and volunteer in El Quimal, Guatemala in her freshman-year and she is looking forward to studying away again in Buenos Aires, Argentina for her junior-year.

Michael Hengerer is a second year student in Gallatin, studying Public Policy and Political Communications. Michael is from Washington, DC, and this is his first year serving on the Student Senators Council. Outside his role as a senator, Michael is involved with Strive for College, the Class Activities Board and other groups on campus.


Annie McWilliams

Annie grew up in Plainfield, NJ and earned a B.S. in Economics from Wharton with concentrations in management and marketing. Annie has maintained a commitment to public service as a former elected official and founder of a NJ based mentoring program.

Annie is a dual-degree student at NYU Stern and Wagner and will earn an MBA and an MPA in May 2015. She is excited to leverage her varied business and leadership experiences as she transitions into her post-MBA career. In her leisure time, Annie enjoys cooking and traveling.


Patrick Totaro

Patrick Totaro is a J.D. student at NYU's School of Law. Although he received his bachelor's degree in history and international studies from the University of Kansas, he returned home to NYC to study law so he could fight the good fight. In the meantime, he is excited to represent the students of the Law School.

Corey is a third-year dual degree MBA/MPA student, pursuing specializations in Social Innovation and Impact, Entrepreneurship, and Management at Stern and Urban Policy at Wagner. He was a 2012 Education Pioneers Graduate Fellow and Stern Social Impact Internship Fellowship, working at Teach For America on its strategy and diversity teams to create a staff mentorship program. At Stern, Corey was the President of the Government and Business Association and the Vice President for External Relations of SGov (Stern's student government). Prior to graduate school, he was a teacher and administrator at an independent private high school in New York City. Corey is a 2004 graduate of the University of Chicago with a B.A. in African-American Studies and Public Policy.

Harris is a senior in the College of Arts and Science studying Politics and Philosophy. Her involvement with student government began when she was a freshman studying away in Florence, Italy where she served as the International Ambassador. She now continues to represent students as a Senator at-Large on the SSC where she is also the Vice Chair of UCSL and Chair of ASSBAC.


Mason Dettloff

Mason Dettloff, a Senator At-Large on the SSC, is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Politics.

Mason calls Las Vegas home and with a passion for politics and student advocacy, his work has taken him to Albany and Washington DC to advocate for financial aid on behalf of students at NYU. In 2011, he was an NYU John Brademas Center for the Study of Congress Scholar.

Mason serves as Vice-Chair of the Student Senators Council and thus the Chair of the Student Activities Board. In the past Mason has chaired the Pubic Relations Committee.


Sameer Jaywant

Sameer is a senior in the College of Arts and Science, studying International Relations and Economics with a minor in French Studies. He represents students as a Senator At-Large, with a constituency focus on international and study away students. He is the Executive Director of NYU's chapter of Generation Citizen, a volunteer organization that trains college students to teach civic engagement in NYC public high schools.


Griffin Dooling

Griffin is a senior at the Stern School of Business studying Management and Finance. This is his second year on the Student Senators Council, and his second as the Chair of the Information Technology Advisory Board. Outside of his involvement in student government, Griffin is involved with a number of student organizations including TEDxNYU and the Political Union and Review.

Brian Plaut is a Senior studying Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Tisch Center of SCPS Undergraduate. While it is only his first year serving as a Senator At-Large, he served as the SCPS Graduate and Undergraduate Senator. In addition to his work in the SSC, Brian is also very involved in Residential Life and serves as a Resident Assistant at NYU.


Mariam Ehrari

Mariam, a Senator At-Large on the SSC, is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying economics and philosophy.

Her work with the Student Senators Council originally began as a school senator for Liberal Studies but with her determination to help the student body in its entirety, she took on the role of Senator At-Large. As a keen traveler, Mariam is a proponent of the Global Network University and speaks French and Farsi fluently, with working knowledge of Urdu and literary components of Arabic.

Mariam serves as the Chair of the Student Senators Council and an ex-officio member of all SSC/UCSL Committees. In the past she has chaired the External Affairs Committee, and the All-Square Student Budget Allocation Committee

Juan Felipe Beltran is part of NYU Abu Dhabi's first graduating class. Currently taking a year abroad in NYC, he is a Computer Science senior with a concentration in the Natural Sciences.


Jules O'Connor

Jules is a junior in the College of Arts and Science double majoring in Mathematics and Politics. This is her second year serving as an Alternate at-Large Senator with a constituency focus on student-atheltes and study abroad students. Outside of the SSC, Jules can be found giving campus tours of NYU as an Admissions Ambassador.


Brett Bolton

Brett Bolton is a Senior studying Political Science and Psychology at NYU Abu Dhabi. As a member of the inaugural class at NYU Abu Dhabi, Brett was elected to the drafting committee for the Student Government Constitution, under which he then served as President of the Student Body in 2012.

Jackie Retig, originally from Philadelphia, is an undergraduate senior in CAS majoring in History and double minoring in Creative Writing and Hebrew and Judaica Studies. Jackie is an Alternate Senator-at-Large on the Student Senators Council. She represents NYU's Jewish community as well as other groups on campus.


Allison Everett

Allison is a senior in the College of Arts and Science pursuing a double major in Economics and Journalism. Outside of her role on the SSC, Allison co-founded and chairs an ally group on campus, is actively involved in the 1831 Fund Committee, and served as NYU's Panhellenic President in 2012. Allison is also a member of the SSC's Internet Technology Advisory Board.


Griffin Simpson

Griffin Simpson is a junior in the College of Arts and Science, studying politics and philosophy. Originally from Northern New York, this is Griffin's second year on the Student Senators Council. Griffin chairs the Student Health Advisory board. In addition to the Student Senate Griffin is the Vice President of the College Democrats, a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and rows for the NYU crew team.


Loris Jones-Randolph

Loris Anne Jones-Randolph
Alternate Senator at-Large

Loris Jones-Randolph is in her final year as a graduate student in the department of Media, Culture, and Communication. Originally from Los Angeles, Loris received a B.A. in Communication from Patten University in Oakland, California. Loris currently serves as a M.A. peer advisor for her department as well as alternative senator-at-large. With a passion for political communication Loris works as an intern for the United Nations Population Fund and hopes to further her research in politics upon graduation.

UCSL meetings are open to ALL students and attendance is encouraged.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 5 PM in the Colloquium Room of the Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life (238 Thompson Street, 5th Fl).
