Faculty Senators Council

The Faculty Senators Council (FSC) is the elected representative body of the faculty within New York University's governance structure.

The FSC (36 members) is part of the University Senate's membership, which also includes the Deans Council (15 members), the Student Senators Council (23 members), not more than 5 representatives of the Administrative Management Council, and not more than 5 officers of University administration, including the President, the Chancellor of the University and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, the Secretary, and such other officers as may from time to time be designated by the President.

The Council consists of thirty-six members. Thirty-three are professorial representatives elected by the voting members of the several faculties of the schools. Three are appointed at-large to represent groups not otherwise represented. Each year, the University Secretary provides to the Faculty Senators Council and the secretary of the faculty of each school the number of faculty representatives to which each school is entitled.

The FSC may consider any matters of educational and administrative policy and functions as the Faculty Affairs Committee of the University Senate. The Faculty Senators Council brings to the attention of the various committees of the Senate and the President any matters of faculty concern. The Faculty Senators Council is constituted pursuant to Bylaw 63 of the University Bylaws.
