NYU Annual Toy Drive

December 3, 2015 to December 17, 2015
The Administrative Management Council, The Student's Class Activities board, the 9th Police Precinct (Manhattan) & the 84th Police Precinct (Brooklyn) Announce the 2015 Annual Toy Drive!

Help brighten the holidays for local children living in the 9th Police Precinct, the East Village, and the Lower East Side, and children in the 84th Police Precinct, the area surrounding our Brooklyn campus, as well as children attending the Herbert G. Birch Manhattan Early Childhood Center serving those with autism and other special needs. There are two ways to donate.

Drop off a new, unwrapped, nonviolent toy or book for children ages infant to 16 years to any of our campus collection sites from Thursday, December 3 through Thursday, December 17. See the linked flyer for more details and drop off locations.

The Board of Trustees has appointed Andrew Hamilton the 16th President of NYU ! Professor Hamilton, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford, will begin in January 2016. Congratulations to the new AMC Officers! At the April general meeting, a new slate of officers was elected for the 2015-16 academic year: David Vintinner as Chair for a second term, Kristi Schwindt Ramos as Vice Chair, Shakera Jones as Treasurer, and Andrea Fannelli as Secretary. Results of the Representative elections for the 2015-17 term are available here.

  • The Superblock Stewardship Advisory Committee has been established to provide advice to the University and a forum for consultation on quality-of-life issues on both blocks before, during, and after construction on the superblocks. The AMC is represented on the committee by Barbara Albrecht; please contact Barbara if you have any questions or feedback.
  • A Protection of Minors Steering Committee has been established by the Provost and the Executive Vice President for Operations to advise about the safety, welfare, and protection of minors involved in events and programs at NYU. Justine Kelly-Fierro represents the AMC on the steering committee.

NYU goes pink! The AMC and the NYU community participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. On Sunday, September 13, 2015, several members of the NYU community and their families attended the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Central Park. The team raised up to 65% of its goal and had tons of fun while raising awareness towards breast cancer.

The Community Service Committee is thrilled to announce that we collected approximately 1750 food items at the Manhattan sites and 200 items at the Brooklyn sites. A huge thank you to Jennie Tichenor and NYU Security's team with the organization of Tom Shindler for doing all the Manhattan pick-ups. And thank you to the site coordinators and the community for their support of this year's drive.
