Bridget R. McCurtis rejoined NYU in July 2012 in the dual capacity of Assistant Vice-Provost, Diversity Initiatives and Senior Director of the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program. As the Senior Director of one of New York State’s largest Higher Education Opportunity Programs serving almost 600 students, she provides the strategic direction and operational management of a sizable staff that offers comprehensive academic support services to traditionally underserved students. Both roles offer McCurtis the opportunity to collaborate with university and national partners to better understand and further facilitate diversity at NYU.
McCurtis initially worked at NYU from 1996-1998 as Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions. In the 15 years she was away, she had a diverse career in non-profit and education. As a leadership/career coach and administrator her practice is informed by continued engagement in scholarly activities. Her primary research interests include the development of leaders, social change, racial esteem and identity development.
In addition to several career and personality assessment certifications, McCurtis holds a B.A. in Sociology from Marquette University, a M.A. in Student Personnel Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
