Global Security and Crisis Management


The mission of the NYU Department of Global Security and Crisis Management is to create, promote and preserve a safe and secure University environment by delivering high quality community safety and protection services in a professional and customer friendly manner. The department is committed to the professional growth of its security staff and the continual development of its relationship with the University and external communities.

The Vision of the department is to achieve the highest level of safety and security for the NYU community and, in so doing, establish the Public Safety Department as a leader in the campus security industry. In striving for excellence in the areas of personnel development, strategic security planning, advanced security technology and customer service, we will fulfill this vision.

The department maintains a state of readiness that enables it to respond quickly and effectively to security challenges. Advanced development of personnel, the use of tested state-of-the-art electronic equipment, and an integrated, reliable and safe transportation system are components that drive our state of readiness. Creating and maintaining a strong partnership with the university community combined with federal, state and local governmental authorities play an integral role in elevating our state of readiness and in achieving our vision.

Goals

  • To identify and maintain access control devices that maximizes effective screening of those seeking to enter university facilities.
  • To effectively deploy personnel and resources that would maximize visibility and minimize response time for calls for service.
  • To investigate all reported crimes and department misconduct in a timely and thorough manner.
  • To promote a sustained crime prevention program in partnership with the university community and local law enforcement authorities.
  • To maintain an efficient, safe and dependable campus transportation system.
