  Lisa Stulberg’s research focuses on the politics of urban schooling\, rac
 e and education policy\, affirmative action in higher education\, school c
 hoice policy and politics\, and LGBT social movements. She is the author o
 f Race\, Schools\, and Hope: African Americans and School Choice after Bro
 wn (Teachers College Press\, 2008) and the co-editor (with Eric Rofes) of 
 The Emancipatory Promise of Charter Schools: Toward a Progressive Politics
  of School Choice (SUNY Press\, 2004). She is the co-editor (with Sharon L
 awner Weinberg) of Diversity in American Higher Education: Toward a More C
 omprehensive Approach (Routledge\, 2011).  She also is working on a book f
 or Polity called LGBT Social Movements.

DESCRIPTION:Lindsey Sasaki\\nVisiting Instructor of International Education
  \\n\\nLindsey Sasaki specializes in cross-cultural exchange and training 
 with an emphasis on international migration\, ethnic identity\, and Latin 
 America. Her research focuses on the Japanese diaspora in Brazil and Peru 
 and the Latin American communities in Japan. In particular\, Sasaki attemp
 ts to explore how the international flow of young adult Japanese Brazilian
  students and factory workers to Japan transforms their individual lives a
 nd group membership and how ethnicity and identity boundaries shift and ar
 e reconstructed under distinct social\, economic\, and political contexts.
  As a Fulbright recipient to Peru in 2001\, Lindsey researched the relatio
 nship among race\, culture\, identity\, and politics focusing on former Pr
 esident Alberto Fujimori’s government and the Japanese-Peruvian community.

DESCRIPTION:Dana Burde\\nAssistant Professor of International Education\\n\
 \nBefore coming to NYU Dana Burde was an Associate Research Scholar at the
  Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies in the School of Internationa
 l and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Recent publications include: 
 Save the Children's Afghan Refugee Education Program in Balochistan \, Pak
 istan 1995-2005 \, Education in Crisis Situations: Mapping the Field \, an
 d "International NGOs and best practices: The art of educational lending\,
 " in G. Steiner-Khamsi \, Global Politics of Educational Borrowing and Len
 ding . Her current research in Afghanistan focuses on whether and how educ
 ation may protect children from violence in post-conflict societies and im
 prove their life chances. The research is supported by grants from the Spe
 ncer Foundation\, the US Institute of Peace\, the Weikart Family Foundatio
 n\, and the National Science Foundation.  Specialization in education in e
 mergencies\, NGOs\, social movements\, and education as a tool for social 
 reconstruction in post-conflict regions.
