New York University has many communication methods in place that may be employed depending on the nature of the emergency.
Multiple web servers are positioned in Manhattan, as well as secondary locations across the globe. For this reason, NYU's homepage is the most reliable mass communications method in an emergency.
All possible methods of communication include:

- Calling NYU's recorded hotline at (212) 998-1220
- Calling NYU's switchboard at (212) 998-1212
- NYUHome
- Telephone
- NYU Voicemail
- Word of mouth through informed officials (Protection Services officers, residence assistants, personnel reps, etc.)
- Official fliers and postings around campus
If you use another system for your email other than NYU, such as AOL or Hotmail, you are encouraged to provide email forwarding information to ITS so that you will receive any status reports sent via email.
