Counseling Services at SHC726 Broadway, 4th Floor Counseling and psychological services at SHC are confidential and provided free of charge to both full and part-time students. They include crisis intervention and short-term individual counseling for students with personal problems and referrals for those who need or desire longer-term therapy. Health Promotion at SHC726 Broadway, 3rd Floor Health Promotion at SHC provides counseling, emergency response and health education. Students can speak with counselors in person (no appointment necessary) and 24/7 by phone or email. Crisis response coordinators are available to manage emergencies and oversee students’ care around the clock as well. Health educators provide comprehensive wellness information, advocacy and referrals on topics including alcohol/other drugs, mental and sexual health, body image and sexual assault prevention. Wellness programs include peer education, workshops, health fairs and one-on-one consultations. Henry and Lucy Moses Center for Students with Disabilities719 Broadway, 2nd Floor The Henry and Lucy Moses Center for Students with Disabilities provides comprehensive services and programs for qualified students with psychological and physical impairments and is committed to assisting students in achieving as much independence as possible. Students who wish to receive assistance from the Moses Center must provide documentation of their impairment. All communication with the center is confidential. Student Resource CenterKimmel Center for University Life The Student Resource Center (SRC) provides personal attention and information to students on the myriad of services available within their schools and throughout the University. The center offers University-wide programs, publications, and hands-on assistance to the entire University community, while focusing specifically on the needs of new and continuing students, transfers, commuters, graduate students, families of students, and on the spiritual diversity at NYU. Department of Residential EducationHayden Hall, 33 Washington Square West The Department of Residential Education is responsible for the engagement of students in pluralistic living and learning environments that promote a focus on academics, intellectual and personal growth, student involvement and leadership, and a commitment to the University and New York City communities. Live-in professional staff (Community Development Educators or CDEs), Resident Assistants (RAs), and Peer Educators (PEs) are available to resident students 24 hours a day, seven days a week as a resource to address academic, personal, and social issues in addition to providing direct assistance in emergency and crisis situations. Professional wellness counselors are also on hand to provide direct counseling services to students every night of the week. Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Student ServicesKimmel Center for University Life The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Student Services at New York University exists to create campus environments that are inclusive and supportive of student diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. The LGBT office offers many programs in the areas of health and wellness, sponsoring/cosponsoring the LGBT Health Fair, AIDS Awareness Week, and self-defense workshops. Throughout the year, the office offers programs and discussions on topics such as relationships, parenting, marriage, safer sex, drugs and alcohol, stress management, body image, and dating. Department of Athletics, Intramurals, and RecreationJerome S. Coles Sports and Recreation Center Palladium Athletic Facility The Department of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation is concerned with the health and welfare of all student athletes who participate in NYU's 20 varsity, 19 club, and 19 intramural sports and/or events. The department's athletic trainers provide care, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for varsity and club athletes. The athletic training staff also provides first aid and referrals to the appropriate medical personnel or facility for intramural and recreational athletes. |
